Water from hydroponics / detergent from washing machine
Hydroponic Nutrients, Hydroponic Solution, Hydroponic Tools No Comments »I work multiple hydroponic systems. Hydroponics require frequent flushings to avoid algae, bacteria, and salt buildup.
However, the outflow solutions remain nutrient-rich. When I flush out the systems, I do not send the used nutrient solutions to the sewer, I pump the solutions out to my orchard and gardens.
To exploit the outflow, I made a drip system to recycle the nutrient solution. I used low-tech hydroponic components to assemble the drip system. This low-tech hydroponic system distributes the outflow to the trees and rows of vegetables. I don’t attempt to recover the outflow water. The water continues into the soil.
I also divert household water into the exterior hydroponic system. My washing machine outputs to the system. I use Ecos laundry detergent in my washing machine. The company produces a detergent that is actually a fertilizer.
The washing machine outputs the water and Ecos detergent to the external system — the low-tech hydroponic system delivers the detergent water to the orchard and garden.
The hydroponic output and the Ecos detergent proved to be good for this tree and others. People come from blocks away to take the lemons.
